SC Lighthouses: Morris Island

April 24, 2020 Off By Forrest

This light house is one of the oldest (2nd) lighthouses in South Carolina. It is found off the coast of Folly Beach on Morris Island. It was built in 1767 by the Colony of South Carolina to guide ships into the harbor of Charleston. It was an active lighthouse till 1962. This lighthouse is one of the most photoed lighthouses in South Carolina. I love this view of the iconic lighthouse.

The series will be completed in mono-print collages. The collages are made with painted 5.5 x 5.5 square (mono-prints) made with a gel press and acrylic paint. The squares are cut into shapes to create the artwork. Each painting is 7 x 9 and will be framed in a window frame.

A variety of photo references were used to create this series. Photos from free sites pixabay and unsplash as well as my own.
